Biography: Alberto Salazar is a Cuban-born American long-distance runner and track coach. He is best known for winning the New York City Marathon three times (1980, 1981, 1982) and the 1982 Boston Marthon.
Subsequently, Salazar served as the head coach for the Nike Oregon Project. This team fell apart, however, after Salazar was named in an investigation into doping allegations. He was later banned from athletics for four years after he was found to be involved in the doping of athletes he coached.
In 2020, Salazar was again subjected to investigations. This time for sexual and emotional misconduct, and he was then banned by the United States Center for SafeSport in 2021 after four violations were confirmed.
