Biography: American singer and actress who performed on stage, radio and television despite chronic injuries that she sustained from a 1943 plane crash in Portugal while touring with the USO.
The 1952 film "With A Song in My Heart", starring Susan Hayward, was based on her life story. Froman provided Hayward's singing voice and served as the film's technical advisor.
In 1957, she founded the Jane Froman Foundation, which supported the children's hospital at the Menninger Clinic, in Topeka, Kansas. She was also an active volunteer with the Easter Seals Society.
