Biography: John Wayne Gacy was convicted of the sexual assault and murder of at least 33 teenage boys and young men in a series of killings committed between 1972 and 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. Gacy was known as the Killer Clown because of his habit of dressing as a clown at charity events,

Gacy was spotted with his last victim Robert Piest in 1978 just before his disappearance and this led to local police identifying him as the chief suspect.

Gacy was then investigated and tailed in the days that followed until a second search warrant was obtained to search his house. Human remains were found in the crawl space under his house and Gacy was arrested. In police custody Gacy then confessed to 25-33 murders. In all, the remains of 29 victims were recovered from Gacy's property.

Gacy was found guilty of the murder of at least 33 people in a trial in March 1980, given the death penalty and executed in 1994, after 14 years on death row.
