Young Turks Will Get 12-Week Run On Fusion

The Young Turks are coming to Fusion.
The millennial-focused network, owned by Univision, said it would launch a 12-week series of one-hour episodes featuring members of “The Young Turks,” a collective of personalities who take a progressive/liberal view of news events and host a spate of streaming-video political programs. In tandem with a group of Fusion reporters, the Turks will travel to college campuses around the country to explore issues of importance to younger voters during key weeks of the current Presidential campaign.
The show will kick off the week of September 5 and will run on cable as well as the company’s digital properties.
“Fusion’s goal is to continue elevating the issues that matter to this diverse, emerging generation of young people. The Young Turks and their distinct, passionate voices will be a valuable addition to our coverage of this unconventional and consequential election cycle,” said Daniel Eilemberg, Fusion’s co-president and chief content officer, in a prepared statement.
The weekly show will be hosted by Ana Kasparian and John Iadarola, and broadcast in front of a live audience. They will be joined on the road by Fusion talent and other popular “Turks” hosts including Cenk Uygur, Jimmy Dore, Ben Mankiewicz, Hannah Cranston, and Kim Horcher. The broadcast will also feature celebrity guest hosts and participation from local campus communities.

The Young Turks, known best at present for a series of politically-minded programs streamed on YouTube, have their roots in a public-access program started by Uygur and his friends. Uygur later created a show on Sirius Satellite Radio based on the concept.
